(…) I am particularly impressed by the works of the Grand Prix winner – Tomasz Kukawski. Admiring them, I was astonished to discover that there still exists a person able to surprise me with such an original idea and its perfect realization. It was as if this artist had rediscovered all the well-known advantages of the linocut. He managed to grasp the balanced contrast between black and white, to carve it and shut it in geometrical figures with an almost mathematical precision and to reconstruct the vertical composition of the graphic work. Tomasz Kukawski fully succeeded in the realization of his artistic aim, for which I extend to him my sincere appreciation.
